Travel Back in Time to Orchha

 The ancient town of Orchha founded in the 16th century seems frozen in time, with its many monuments continuing to retain their original grandeur even to this day. Here you will find some of the most fascinating temples and palaces that will help you realise a childhood fantasy - travelling back in time! One among the many of the fascinating monuments is the Jehangir Mahal (Palace) built in the 17th century. It was built by the then ruler Vir Singh Deo as a symbol to welcome Emperor Akbar's son, Jehangir, during his visit to the historic town. Facing east, the palace is a three storey structure with large terraces, well carved balconies, porches, lattice windows & small apartments. The town was later the scene for a historic battle in which the ruler relinquished control to Emperor Jehangir, and remained a fugitive until his death.
